It is well known that cosmetics manufacturers add perfumes in their cosmetics products. The total combination of these two is of course very pleasing for the consumers. The cosmetics perfume is an important factor in the marketing of the cosmetics. There is always a good competition for introducing new cosmetics perfume products.
The problem with the cosmetics products is that they can be harmful to the users. It is true that there is lot many manufacturers advertising their products as “natural” the problem with these types of labeling and advertisings are many. There are very well laid down laws in case of food labeling.
In case of the cosmetics, there are no laws or any regulations. This has made everything very unscientific. In case of cosmetics, there is absolutely no regulation of any kind. There is no industry standard about the use of words like “Natural”. The cosmetics industry uses lot many petrochemicals and still uses the word “natural”. The cosmetics products about nail care invariably contain formaldehyde, a toxic petrochemical and still is labeled as natural. All this is very bad and is hazardous to the health of the consumers.
What is the role of the fragrances and perfumes in these cosmetics products?
The perfume by nature is not exactly revealing. The perfumer will tell you about the main ingredients but they never provide you with exact details of the chemicals present in any perfume. This is done because the formula of the fragrance must remain secret. So you never know the exact chemicals in a perfume.
The cosmetics manufacturer uses this fact very cleverly. They use the perfume in the cosmetics to hide the smell of their petrochemicals. They add the perfumes to the cosmetics in such a manner to hide the unwanted chemicals. There can be carcinogenic chemicals in the cosmetics. But its presence can be masked using the perfume. The perfume is also used as legal shield against accusations of health hazard chemicals. The cosmetics producer always argues that they do not know whether the perfume contains the hazardous chemical or not! As you can not force perfume producer to reveal all the chemicals in the perfume, the cosmetics industry takes disadvantage of this fact economically and legally.
The consumers must be aware of these facts about cosmetics perfume. Even if you use a leading brand and costly cosmetics, there is no guarantee at all that this cosmetics perfume combination is free from health hazard chemicals.
