Inner Cartilage Piercing



Body piercing is the art of piercing any particular part of the body. It is done for the purpose of wearing jewelry in that artificial opening of the body that is created due to the piercing. Piercing has been done since the ancient times, for religious and cultural purposes.

In the sub continent of India, body piercing has been done since a number of centuries. Parents usually get the ear lobe of their infants pierced. The instrument that is used to pierce the ear lobe is a thin wire of gold. This tradition of piercing the infant’s ears has been going in the Indian subcontinent for a long period of time. Ladies get their noses pierced in order to wear a ring in it or wear a precious stone.

Moving on to the topic, the ear cartilage is the upper section of the ear. The cartilage is a very safe part of the ear to get pierced. Cartilage piercing has been done since the olden times in all the regions of the world. In India there is a tradition of awarding the soldiers of a victorious battle with an ornament known as “bhig bali”. The ornament is worn on the inner cartilage or the outer cartilage.

Cartilage Piercing is often termed as the piercing done through the cartilage of the human ear. It is done on any part of the ear other than the lobe.

Inner Cartilage Piercing is done usually on the central part of the ear. It is usually next to the ear canal. The inner cartilage piercing is done with a large diameter. It is usually of 10g or 8g. After the required stretching is done open earlets can be safely worn in the pierce, only after the pierce heals. The piercing is done with a hollow piercing needle that has a large gauge. During the period of stretching and healing wearing of barbell is recommended.

The second method that can be used in for inner cartilage piercing is the dermal punch. However it is usually used to create the initial punch. This kind of piercing is very much like the inner conch piercing.
