It is thought that at least 90% of pregnant women, 70% of adolescent females, and 40% of adolescent males develop stretch marks. Stretch marks are the fine lines or the scars on the skin and it can be the worst nightmare for anybody to have stretch marks. Appearance of stretch marks depends on the elasticity of your skin. It can also be a matter of genetics. If your mother or sister got stretch marks during pregnancy, you are more likely to get that. However, it will depend on how fast your skin gets stretched. Cause of stretch marks
Stretch marks are appearing on the body where the skin is stretched, or overstretched. The normal production of collagen is disrupted and as a result, stretch marks appear. They are most likely to appear in the places where fat is stored, in the abdomen, upper arms, thighs. These marks are not harmful but are not good at sight, making you conscious at times if they are been seen. These are simply cosmetic issue, and needs to be treated accordingly.
Ways to get rid
Unfortunately, there is no permanent solution for stretch marks. However, you can reduce their appearance by not gaining more weight and with proper preventative measures. The earlier you can detect them, when they are pink or reddish brown, the more likely you are to diminish their appearance. Applying some creams and lotions also do work to reduce stretch marks. Cocoa butter is also a good preventative. Cocoa butter is a moisturizer. It is often recommended for stretch marks to the people having them. Its effectiveness at helping to reduce stretch marks has never been measured, and some women find they are allergic to it. If you do not experience any side effects then there is no harm in using it, as it will help to keep the skin supple.
