High heels are seen today in most of the shoe style shops and are associated to elevate female styles. The term high heeled shoe implies styles of some spike heeled styles of footwear. These are exclusively worn by women and in fact there are various shoe designs for both men and women with elevated heels and this includes Cuban heels and cowboy boots. Elevated heels have been a great response to the riders. The cowboy boots are the old fashioned high heels boots and are notable. The evidence of this is in the elongated heel and this is a regular feature of the old fashioned high heels.
The concept of riding paved way to more stylized heel in the initial three decades. More and more people loved wearing it and it was seen as a mark of prestige. The heel heights slowly crept among men and the women started wearing higher and thinner high heels. Then after few tripping down instances, the heels were used to court only. They were not used while riding. In the 1600s, men commonly wore three and four inched height high heels. Later, in1533 a wife of the Duke of Orleans who was diminutive commissioned her cobbler to make a pair of heels both as fashion and also to enhance her stature.
High heeled shoes gradually caught with the conscious women and men fashion in the French court and spread like fire to other countries. In fact the term well heeled started becoming synonymous to opulent wealth. Men and women wore high heels as a noble fashion and it became a matter of pride in the seventeenth and eighteenth century. After the French revolution, wearing heels declined owing to its associations with aristocracy and wealth. In 1800s, flat sandals and shoes were commonly and widely used but then once again the high heel spurred in fashion in the 1800s almost among women.
In the last sixty years, high heels fell in or out of favor many times and in 90s, the flats and lower heels prevailed in the style. Lower heels were the most preferred style in the late 60s and the beginning of 70s, but higher heels came back in 80s and initial period of 90s. The fashion of the heel changed to tapered from block. High heels are typically worn by women and though now the heel and the style vary, it is an old fashioned style. Though the high heel faced controversy owing to many foot problems, the high heel never went out of fashion.
