Personal attitude to body piercing vary from people to people. Some people considered it as religious ritual. For instance, ancient Indians and even in some parts of India people practiced tongue piercing to show their gratitude to God. Some people considered body piercing especially tongue and nose piercing as a frightful weapon to threaten their enemies. The Mayas and some ancient tribal did tongue and nose piercing and inserted a long trunk in the pierced area. They believed that even the sight of such a pierced man will frighten the enemy.
Some people particularly youngsters believe that piercing is a fashion and a beauty of art. In the last century even men wore ear rings or studs by piercing ears. But in the middle, it was considered as a shame Nowadays it is common for men to pierce their ears and wear ear rings there. Especially young people in urban areas consider it as a fashion.
Lip labrets and piercing in eye brows to wear ornaments there are considered as fashion among young girls. But the parents never like this and believe it as a flesh mutilation. Even tattooing by piercing is a fashion nowadays. But the society does not accept as a whole.
Some people believed that piercing in genetic organs allows them to retake control in their own bodies. But three is no proof for this. It is only a myth. Some people considered body piercing trendy and a sign of beauty while some others treat as insult to the culture.
In ancient days, piercing lips and wearing lip labrets by women was considered as attractive and it was believed that lip piercing gave sex appeal look to woman. But nowadays it is not considered as attractive.
Many people considered body piercing a symbol of sadism. People believed that those who do body piercing may have the attitude of ill treating others and enjoy in other’s pain. But there is no proof for this.
Body piercing though fashionable among young people is not accepted by the society. So any one wants to do piercing should hide them in office hours.
