Stretch marks symptoms and causes:
Stretch marks are generally a form of scarring that can be associated with pregnancy, obesity, bodybuilding, puberty, and intense physical activity. Usually they result from overstretching of the skin, which disrupts the normal production of collagen, causing a scar. Medical term for these kinds of markings include striae, striae atrophicae, vergetures, striae cutis distensae, striae gravidarum in cases where it is caused by pregnancy, lineae atrophicae, striae distensae, linea albicante. Most of the types of stretch marks first appear as reddish or purple lines, but tend to gradually fade to a lighter color. The affected areas appear empty and soft to the touch. Stretch marks can appear anywhere on the body and are most likely to appear in places where fat is stored, or that have a possibility to undergo stretch. The most common places are the abdomen especially near the belly button, breasts, upper arms, underarms, thighs both inner and outer, hips, and buttocks. Fortunately stretch marks pose no health risk in and of them, and do not compromise the body’s ability to function normally and repair itself.
Egg white for stretch marks:
Egg white and egg white powders are greatly effective in treating stretch marks. Like the other home remedies this is a natural treatment, which is even safe during pregnancy. As egg whites are rich in protein, they provide protein to the skin. Oils such as almond oil and castor oil are also equally good at reducing stretch marks. Use vitamin E creams or buy Vitamin E caplets, break them and apply this regularly on your skin. Olive oil is also extremely effective in treating stretch marks. Many of us who have used these home remedies for stretch marks swear by their effectiveness. The trick is to know how to use the oils and cream to get the maximum effect. It is suggested to apply the oil shortly after taking a shower so that it can get absorbed into the skin naturally and application should be repeated next shower. This should be done daily. If the skin tends to be on the dry side, egg whites can be applied twice a day. The egg whites are generally sticky and may tend to stick to the clothes. In such a case the applied area can be covered with gauze or can be stuck with medical tape.
